Wrapping up a great year :)

We have had a terrific year here at Gettin’ It Pegged!

Thank you to all of you who have stuck with me and my ramblings over the past 12 months… it’s been so encouraging to know you’re there and hearing your comments and seeing how much you’ve been enjoying taking the art of loom knitting a little bit farther along!  You all ROCK! 😀

I thought it would be fun to go over a few little pieces of trivia about 2010:

  • The year’s top downloaded Freebie pattern has been the super easy Mittens at 5,367 downloads for the year!  Whew…That’s a lot of mittens!
  • The next most popular Freebie has been the Scrubby-O’s pattern at 3,440 downloads…there’s a lot of scrubbying going on ’round here, lol.
  • The most clicked on post was this.
  • This is the second most clicked on post.
  • The Kissie Fish Game and the Winter Whimsy LAL series were close behind those.
  • Some of the strangest search terms that have arrived here at the Clique were: afghan brides (!), tons of searches about different types of perms… the most popular being spiral perms, jacuzzi tub, 100% paper (what??),  moon sky, and love birds…these are just to name  a few, lol. 😉
  • The most popular Peggin’ Pages pattern was: Bethany’s Booties!
  • The second most popular Peggin’ Pages pattern was:Chunky Slipper Socks!
  • The highest months for visitors to the blog were in both January and December…they’re pretty much neck and neck. 🙂

Here are the first sentences for the first post of each month throughout 2010 (hover over the links to see the post titles and click to view the actual posts):

  1. I’ve been wracking my noggin’ over the last week about what I want to see happen in 2010.  I keep thinking it should be something fantastic, as it’s the first new decade into the new century of the new millennium!
  2. I’ve really been taking this “contemplating the next stretch of time the new year inevitably brings” very seriously…as you can imagine, since it’s already February! I’ve taken the time to ponder what has already filled the hours…
  3. I thought you’d like to take a peek at my friend Becky’s Braided Cables Bag… Didn’t she do a fantabulous job on it???
  4. Just thought I’d share a few laughs with you on this beautiful first day of April…
  5. Gettin’ It Pegged Gear!!! I just wanted to announce that I’m having a… ***MOTHER’S DAY SALE*** at the shop!
  6. We’re still running our little feet to the ground around here…racing at deadlines, catching items from our to-do lists and pinning them down.  Life with 2 teenagers….
  7. Have you ever been creating a project on your looms that have lovely cables throughout, but try as you might, you just can’t get those loose sides of the cable twists to tighten up?
  8. I’ve started out the month with a BANG!    I’ve just today completed project number 13 for the BOOK!!!!
  9. There are a few things that have kept me from going absolutely bonkers over the last couple of weeks with all this looming, typing, and working out the kinks in patterns…
  10. than with a 20% off coupon from Michaels Crafts?? Good through October 2nd and even works on the sale items!
  11. Sometime back (well…sadly, it was actually going on 6 months back) I introduced a special drawing for one of the lucky persons who purchased something from my shop at Artfire.
  12. We’ve been tossing around some excellent ideas during our Yahoo Loom Class Group session this week!  As I mentioned in the last post, we’re working on the Cabled Mug Hug…

Well, that was fun!  I need to go back and read these things more often, lol.  It’s really like writing a diary, as these posts provide all kinds of insight into who I am, what struggles I’m going through, and what I’m trying to do to improve life in general as I know it.  🙂  I think I’m going to be reading a little bit more in between the posts above, to ruminate over the year and see what I’d like to post as goals for the new year of 2011.  Unlike last year, it seems I’m ready to just dive in and go for it!  Whatever I decide to have on my to-do list better watch out, because it’s going to be .n.a.i.l.e.d. d.o.w.n….Pronto!  😀

I hope you’re all enjoying the close of your year and that happiness and good times shine on you throughout the new one!  Blessings to you and yours…

Christmas Celebrations~

I hope your holidays have been filled with loved ones and all your favorite things!

Here at the Dailey house, we’ve been continuing with our annual tradition of starting a week early with the gifts… read all about the hows and “why-for’s” here.   I myself have been concentrating really hard on trying to not be online so much over the past week and hardly any time at all over the actual Christmas weekend.  We bloggers, facebookers, and twitterers have to keep our priorities straight, right?  😉

In between holiday festivities, I thought I would pop in and let you know how we’ve been getting on up here in our little corner of the country.

Movie going was in the plans as part of our week of Christmas festivities.  We first went to see Tron and then we split up for the next outing, with the girls going to Narnia and hubby and I going to see True Grit.  We all would have went to Narnia together, but our theater was only offering it in 3D and this format makes hubby really sick.  😛  So, we revisited a classic… of which I have never actually seen, the original lol.  I may be shooting my own foot here, but I’ve never really been a strong John Wayne fan, but do like the occasional western, and Matt Damon being included was a definite plus,  so off we went.  😉  The movies were all pretty good.   Tron was a really entertaining take on the original and True Grit was good, although I’m not sure I really enjoyed the ending.  I think I would have preferred events to be securely tied up in a “pretty yellow ribbon”… I know, bad pun, lol.  I just couldn’t help myself.  Narnia is always enjoyable, but the girls said they wished it stuck more to the true story… which is very often the case with natural born readers.  It’s a huge plus in life, but not necessarily when they decide to make movies based on their beloved books, lol.

Well… we’ve also enjoyed  a little holiday baking.

My Megan has a fondness for making Candy Cane Hearts and we have a fondness for eating them.  😉  Aren’t they so pretty and festive?

We also made huge gingerbread cookies and decorated them with icing and bits and bobs of candy sweets.  Actually, this is a favorite recipe for chewy molasses cookies that we add the ginger to…  I love a good molasses cookie and these bake up very nice for decorating!

Our actual present opening has revealed some nice surprises…

We’ve opened this absolutely WON-DER-FUL hp e-printer and I am so in love with it already!

My hubby has opened his gift and assorted accessories from all of us girlies:  an air brush kit!  He’s been wanting one for a long time to be able to assemble his models just right.  🙂  Here he is, cheesy grin and all:

Our Christmas this year has included a lot of digital gaming paraphernalia, such as these…

…and this….to the very enthusiastic Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh!  from hubby, hehehee:

The girlies opened many of their gifts on Christmas Eve:

…some of which were loom knit goodies, such as Emily’s very own Winter Whimsy:

…and another of which was a Pocket Scarf for Megan!  This idea was thought up by Megan two years ago and she has been asking me to make it into reality ever since.  She didn’t know that I’ve actually had it on my loom in various stages of completion over the last year and finally put the last hand stitches of the liner into place on the 23rd of December.  Whew!  I squeeked in under the wire on that one, lol!  She was very surprised and happy to see what was in her package…and has been wearing it pretty much non-stop since.  I don’t blame her…it’s definitely cozy! 😀

I am intending on releasing a pattern for this project soon, so be watching for that!  I need to  figure out a plan to pry it from my daughter’s shoulders to be able to take some better pics… this may take some thinking, lol.  😉

I have some additional goodies to show you of gifts that I have been so blessed to receive from my family… I want to do those in their own post, so stay tuned!

I hope you’re all making as many wonderful memories this Christmas as our little family has been!  Many blessings to you as you make your way into the new year!
