Friday’s Finished Objects…and a couple of new ones too!

How could I resist adding just a few new projects as I complete the previous ones on the list?  I just can’t avoid those tempting skeins of yarn calling me from hither and yon and begging to be made into something lovely and fantastic.  (and yes, they do call me…from my yarn cubes, from my various baskets and bags, from the yarn stores…you name it, they call me, lol!  I should probably be committed, I know.)

I have updated my Progress Bar to show a couple of new items that I really want to complete:

  1. The 25th Street Stole by Jenny Stark, which I am making into a fluffy and textured scarf by using only 18 pegs of the blue round KK loom and some of my very own girly’s hand spun thick and thin yarn. This project is a pure delight, let me tell you! It’s a super easy pattern to follow and an excellent yarn to play with…a winning combination! 🙂
  2. Blanket Sweater!  This is a new project I’ve been having fun with and hope to have it all done by Christmas.  This is going to be a bit of a challenge, as it is a pretty large project. I’m a glutton for punishment.  I estimate it is going to require 19 skeins of Hometown USA by Lion Brand.  Yikes!  Wish me luck.

I have removed the scarf sets (and Koby) as I am now calling them done.  Yay!  I haven’t shown much in the way of progress in the losing weight progress bar because, well… I have to be honest.  I’m not really going to be serious about that goal until the holidays are over, lol!  I have lost 4 lbs since starting, though…that’s a little something, right? 😉

I did complete an additional eensy-weensy little rush order for a new friend of mine.  He’s a retired and recovering injured Marine and is learning to needle knit as part of his recovery.  Isn’t that cool?  His friend and therapist who taught him how to knit is having her first grand-baby and so he asked if I could whip something up in a hurry to be able to give a hand crafted piece of baby goodness.  How could I say no to that?  I grabbed my red round KK loom and my little KK flower loom and made him some adorable ‘lil Rome-ettes (a more lacy version of Romeo’s, lol) and a sweet Pom Pom Hat, all in one evening!  🙂  I just love how they turned out, don’t you?

Here’s a slideshow of all the loomy loot… the finished items as well as the progress of the ones I’m currently and diligently working on.  Hope you enjoy!

What’s been hanging out on your looms lately, as you count down the days to Christmas?

Winner of the Half a Million Drawing! :)

It’s that time… the time we’ve been waiting all week for… the time I bet you thought I’d forgotten to post about, didn’t you, lol? 😉

So sorry it’s taken me all day (and evening) to post the winner of the drawing of our little comment contest for the 2 Cool 4 Stix Tote.  I’ve been literally running all day long and only had the chance to sit down to take care of it just now.  I hope you haven’t been pulling your hair out with anticipation.  hahaha… no, I know I’m not quite that exciting, lol!

But I will point out to you the winning tote that was hiding in the previous picture.  It’s really quite a cutie.  I love it’s cheery nature and spunky style.   Unfortunately you won’t be able to see it very well, as it’s kind of buried in there, lol.

Here… I’ll point it out for you…

Was that obvious enough for you?  I think I’m feeling just a bit silly tonight, lol!  It must be from trying to finish putting up the holiday decorations while there are two eight-month-old kitties underfoot, eating getting into everything in sight! 😛  It’ll be a minor Christmas miracle if we make it through the holidays with our tree still intact and all the presents unwrapped only when it’s the proper time to do so.  Oh, but we do so love those little guys!  🙂

Oh, yes!  I have a winner to announce, don’t I?

Alright… let’s get to it then, with not another delay, shall we?

Drum rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll….

The winner is number 21!

Now see?  Wasn’t that worth the wait?  What?  You don’t know who the lucky number 21 actually IS???  oh.

Well…

It’s none other than…..

Woohoo!  Congratulations, Beth! 🙂

I have to say I so enjoyed reading everybody’s comments over the last week!  You all brightened my days with your little tidbits of fun, inspiration and some of your favorite things.  Beth had an especially great idea that I just had to mention here in this post, since she’s the Princess For Today…

Not only did she guess the right winning bag (!), she also brought up an awesomely-terrific loomy idea:

“Well I just finished my three Christmas trees. I have a very nice skirt for my big tree but none for my two smaller trees. Thinking I could make some on my yellow KK round loom using your round flat circle pattern (face scrubby) pattern, only super sized and not connected. I think this would make an open disk? This will probably be a winter project for next year. Should be interesting!”

Yes, you would definitely end up with an open disc, exactly the right shape for a tree skirt! I just think that’s a dynamite idea, Beth…don’t you all? 🙂  It would be so easy to do too…just follow the Scrubby-O pattern, but incorporate more pegs.  I can imagine so many festive pinwheel designed tree skirts for next year!  We all better get started in January, so we make sure to have them done well before we have to worry about starting to dive into our actually holiday loom knitting gift list for 2012. 😉

Thank you all so much for playing along with me and for being a super valuable part of that half a million!  I get just a little teary-eyed & tipsy thinking about it and how much I appreciate you all.  It’s been an amazing last 4 1/2 years with you! 😀

…and once again, HUGE Congratulations, Beth!  Remember to send your mailing address to me at Bethany@gettinitpegged.com.  Thanks a bunch!

Half a Million!

505,946!

Yep…you read that right.  We have had that many visitors to the Clique over the last 4+ years!  That’s downright amazing and pretty cool besides, lol! 🙂

I had been watching the numbers climb and meant to post something special when we hit the half a million mark, but I’ve also been pretty busy over the last couple weeks and haven’t had the time to spare to be online as much as usual.  Then I peeked the other day and kapow!  It was over the mark by quite a bit already, lol!

In celebration of this very amazing benchmark in the history of Gettin’ It Pegged!  I’d love to do a giveaway!   What do ya’ all think about that? 🙂

I have an extra & very sweet 2 Cool 4 Stix Tote that I’d love to give away to somebody special who will be chosen randomly from the comments of this particular post.  The rules are that you can make a comment to this post once a day for the next week until the close of Sunday, December 11, 2011.  The only time you can make an additional comment entry in a single day is when you share about the drawing and link back to where you shared in your comment.  So the more times you share, the more times you can enter daily! 😉

The winning name will be drawn randomly from amongst the comments on Monday, December 12, 2011.  If the winner does not email me with their mailing address within 3 days, a new winner will be drawn from the remaining entries

What should you share about in your comments??

I think we’d all love to hear some interesting tidbits from you… like what is your favorite project out of Loom Knitting for Little People so far?  How are you doing with your holiday looming endeavors?  What is your all time favorite yarn or loom and why?  Do you have a question you’ve been just dying to ask me?  Do you have a fantastic craft idea you’d love to share or link to?  Let’s get creative and have a lot of fun with this… I think we can learn something new everyday through our super clever entries, don’t you? 🙂

The prize tote is hiding somewhere in this picture full of 2 Cool 4 Stix abundance… can you guess which one it is??

I hope you’re all having a fantastic December so far…

Wow!  Can you believe that there’s just over two weeks until Christmas?!  …and it’s already starting to snow here in blogland~ brrrrrr!   Where did the year go, anyway?

Happy Half a Million Celebration…and good luck to you! 😀
