Large Gauge?….try Giganto!

I stumbled upon this very fascinating blog post about a gal (Laura of Nocturnal Knits, author of Picture Perfect Knits) who decided to knit a blanket using none other than  2 PVC pipes to whip up a cozy blanket!  She uses partially felted wool roving rounds and shows how she made the blanket in the video below.

I couldn’t resist posting her video, as it is just amazing what we fiber lovers out there can do when we set our minds to it (or get a bee in our bonnet, lol)!  I keep wondering how we as loom knitters can get in on some of this innovative crafty action… any ideas…a loom the size of my dining room table perhaps?  😉

Have a happy week!

Another way to use the Scrubby-O! (& an update from me)

Jolene Torgler sent me this pic showing off her Mini Facial Scrubby-O!  Here’s what she said about it:

“I did this in 100% cotton yarn ombre on an Extra Fine Gauge loom. It made a perfect sized facial scrubby for my daughter. She is a cosmetologist and loves them!”

Thank you Jolene for another example of how we can take a project and make it our own by changing it up just enough to suit our needs…Terrific inspiration!  😀

ps:  If you’ve been wondering where in the world I’ve been lately, I’ve been undergoing some serious nursing back to health due to a severe cold/flu that pretty much wiped me out completely and turned my brains into scrambled pudding, delirious dreams and all, lol.  I’m starting to feel better now, thank goodness, and even ventured out last night to attend my local knit night.  It was difficult to hear all the conversation, as my ears are completely stuffed, but I had a really good time knitting and chatting and catching up…then I came home and crashed from the bit of extra exersion, lol.  😛

In the meantime, I have been looming and working on new projects…marking them off the book to-do list and trying to wrap them all up in a nice, pretty package, so to speak.  I can see the end around the corner (finally!) and am getting kind of excited.  This thing has been a very long process and I’m trying to give it that extra attention now that I can see the tell-tale signs of completion.  If you hear just a bit less from me here, it’s because I’m working hard on my end, trying to get it all done, so please bear with me!  🙂  Happy Looming to you all!

This Month’s Freebie and New Peggin’ Pages!

I thought it would be a great time to re-release the “itty bitty bag” pattern that was featured in the Loom Knitter’s Circle Magazine Summer 2010 issue.  🙂

It’s on the Freebies page, just waiting for you to download it…

itty bitty bags!

The next pattern is a fun one made with lengths of ribbon or fabric strips!  Or you could get really crazy creative and use those old tee’s you have lying around to make this very versatile little baggie.  🙂  At the bottom of this post you’ll find an awesome video tutorial I found on YouTube by “MrsCarlsbad35” illustrating how to make “tarn” in one long piece of yardage from each tee…

I’ve actually had this pattern for a few years now, as I originally created it to teach at my local classes.  I have loved carrying this baggie around with me as my purse and there have been no end of wonderful comments about it wherever I happened to travel!  Can you just imagine how many different types of bags you could create with this idea, just by switching out the fabric/ribbon/tarn?  The creative possibilities are pretty much endless! 🙂

There are two sizes available in the pattern, and also included is a tutorial on how to make a basic liner.  Here’s the link to purchase the instructions from my shop
