Reminiscing with a Fever…

Why is it that when we have the most to do…that’s when something goes wrong…like getting sick! 

Yesterday, we had a sudden weather change from very hot and sunny, to rainy and windy, and then back again.  This tends to wreak havok with my immune system and tells it to “Bail!!!” 

So, here I am writing this little note with a burning throat and piercing headache.  I have gotten a little more done on my looming that I lugged around at the fair, though, and have also been working on another goody for you…a new pattern!  Well, I’m re-working an earlier pattern of mine. 

It’s amazing how when we first begin something new, we think that what we’ve produced is of such impeccable quality, until we revisit the same, sometime down the road and discover how mediocre it really was!  (I’m speaking of my pattern writing abilities)  Well, none of my students seemed to notice, or they were just too sweet and respecting of my feelings to mention it.  Thank you to all of my previous students for overlooking my original inadequacies 🙂 …what would I do without you!

Well, I think it’s early bedtime for me tonight…I hope all is well with you and yours & that you are experiencing the best of health!  Good Night…

Tuesday @ The Fair!

Pirate & Parrots

*The pictures say it all!*

Glider Ride  We went to the SW Washington Fair today.  The skies were shiny, the rides were spinny, and the corn dogs spendy…everything you’d ever want in a county fair.  We all had a good time.  My 15 yr old daughter & I vote for the pirate and his parrots as the best entertainment, but my 11 yr old and her friend would definitely agree that the rides were the highlight of their day.  When we had to go, they still wanted more!“Stilts Man”

I have to say…I lugged my loom and yarn around the fairgrounds all day in hopes to get some knitting done.  I did get a little done…7 rows!  🙂   Well, you can’t say I didn’t try!  I’m sure I’ll get more done as the week progresses.

I hope you’re enjoying satisfying, sunny summer days before they all blow away…School time’s just around the corner!  Yikes!

Weekend full of Sand & Swirls

Our WeekendThis weekend my family and I took a little trip to the Washington Coast.  On the 2 hour drive I got a little looming done…I was teaching the Felted Bottle Hug at a recent class and got part way through with one, and so I determined to finish it on the drive there.  We stopped in Aberdeen at a fabulous old lumber baron’s estate, that has since been turned into a musem.  We all love knocking around in old houses and museums.  It’s amazing the insights  you get about the past and the people of those times, just by visiting the objects they used, and looking at places they lived.  It gives you a connection to your roots. 

The weather at the beach was fair.  It wasn’t very windy, which in Washington is a huge plus for a beach trip!  But the sun kept going behind clouds and making us want to hunker down in our sweatshirts and munch our salt water taffy purchased in Westport.  All in all, it was a great family day!

On Sunday, I decided that since I was doing Swirly Hug 2mountains of laundry Swirly Bottle Huganyway (yuck!), I should go ahead and felt my Bottle Hug.  This time around I used Patons SWS, with some contrasting Lion Brand Felting Wool at the bottom.  When it was felted, the varigated color of the SWS yarn lost it’s pretty luster that it had originally, (it was really pretty boring!) so I decided to use the contrasting yarn and a strong tapestry needle to chain stitch some swirlies into the hug.  A row of alternating lengths of blanket stitches completed the design and Wah-Lah!  Just what it needed!  Lesson learned: Never be afraid of changing something up & making it yours! 🙂
