Wooly Felted Pumpkins!

Introducing the “orange” project I had been working on…

 Perfect for Fall!

Wooly Felted Pumpkins!  I am so in love with fall & pumpkins!  This is the one season every year when the retailers rush into getting out there for sale early, that I don’t complain about one bit.  I love seeing all the rich colors and feeling the crisp air, and leaves crunching under my feet.

On a loomy note: this pumpkin is felted with wool and acrylic to give it that slubby, bumpy look.  Also…my first attempt involved stuffing the pumpkin before felting just to see what would happen.  It worked, but tended to have too much space between the rows, so you could see the stuffing underneath.  The second one was stuffed after and came out to my mind much better!  Too much space!

Girls & Time…you can’t hold them back

I can’t believe what this day holds!  Tenth grade and Junior High…oh, my!  My girls are growing up right before my eyes.  Sometimes it seems as if time stands still and I can’t wait for them to just grow up! 

But then, other times, like today, I see how time Megan~Emily~has just flown…and I think what was I doing to let them get older…couldn’t I make time

just 

stop?!

 They are beautiful, intelligent, funny, graceful, goofy, mature, childlike…and all in one day…sometimes all in one moment… My girls~

Most of all, they are my babies, my sweet little girls.

Long Loom, or Round?

I’ve been working on my “orange project” (as seen below), and I’ve been using the Knifty Knitter long loom for the first time.  I’ve always stuck to the round looms because that was what was available at the craft store that I teach classes at in our town.  We recently got in the long looms, though, so I thought I’d try them out. 

So far I’m finding that the long looms are a bit clumsy to use unless I use the looming tool to thread the yarn through the pegs.  When I try to do it by hand, I can’t move around the pegs smoothly.  Of course, if I was using the fine gauge knitting method rather than the e’wrap, I’m sure that would fix the problem.

What do you think?  Do you have a preference on loom types?  Do you have any great hints or ideas we can all benefit from knowing?  I’d love to hear from you!  🙂
