There’s another adult in the house~

Just look at this little thing….

Does it in any way to you seem like she could possibly now have crossed into the “adult” category??

I’m having a bit of trouble with this milestone in my eldest daughter’s life.

To me, she’s still the baby I see at left…

or the tomboy girlie I see below…

It’s been really difficult for me to reconcile the fact in my mind that our Emily has just turned 18 years old this week.  Our little girl is growing up.

Oh, I know that I should have felt this coming, lol.  I’ve had all these years of seeing her grow and mature, all this time of planning for college graduation as well as high school graduation in June, and all the plans for her life in the future.  But, for some reason, I didn’t really feel it until the day of her 18th birthday.  It just hit me smack in the middle of my forehead that my little girlie was now a lawful adult.

*sigh*

Don’t get me wrong…I couldn’t be more proud of her and the way she has grown into a wonderful young woman.  She’s lovely, intelligent, witty, dependable, quirky, and just plain fun to be around.  🙂  I really am so glad that she is our “new adult in the house” and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her, this fresh young life just ready to embark upon the world.

It just might take a tiny bit of getting used to for this mom, who is trying to loosen her hold on her first born, and remember that she’s not that tiny baby any longer.  It might take a little bit of time, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it.

Maybe by the time the youngest baby of the family is ready to turn 18 I’ll be more adept at the transition…in four years down the road, lol! 😉

  1. June says:

You have every reason to be proud Bethany! Your daughter is lovely as is her Mom! I wish her all the best in her journey through this world!

Oh and by the way you can forget about “loosening your hold” on your little baby! My baby will be 25 in a couple of months but he is still “my baby” and that just something he has learned to live with! LOL

  2. What a cute girlie 🙂 And now a beautiful young lady. Wishing her all the best in that future that stretches before her ❤ Hugs!
