Back to Basics~

Hello! 🙂  I hope your summer has been a doozy, full of fun, frolic, and all those you hold dear.  We’ve been holding our own over here, with some get-away days, some stay-cation days, and even the hosting of a successful yard sale!  We’re still experiencing the aftermath of that last one…whew!  Those things are a TON of work. 😛

In amongst all the chaos of the summer, a little bit of new looming has actually been accomplished…Yay!  There are some things that I’m so excited to show you, but I can’t speak about until I’ve been given the go-ahead.  I do have some other cutie finished projects that I will be able to let the cat out of the bag about very soon…hint, hint! 😉

To hold you over, I’ve just updated the Twisted Stitches page of Gettin’ It Pegged! to include those back-to-basics articles which were published in the Winter and Spring 2012 issues of the Loom Knitter’s Circle.  These are from the newly introduced feature, Stitch Smarts.  Now included here are the articles on Cast On Comparisons and Bind Off Basics.  If you’d like a run down on Seaming, please see the current article here! 🙂

Jenny Stark has lined up all the Loom Alongs happening in Ravelry for August and September right here in her post…make sure to pop on over and take a look at the fun fibery things going on! 🙂 There’s one in there that I had never seen before and simply had to purchase the pattern…immediately. Make sure to take a look at the Luxurious Loom Knit Neck Warmer…it’s a charmer. ❤

Also…for those of you who would love to try something extra new and exciting on your looms, Graciela Worth has cracked the code on Entrelac and is teaching the technique in the Yahoo Loom Class August 5th-18th…this is definitely a Must-Make & Learn! 😀 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LoomClass/

Summer 2012 Loom Knitter’s Circle Magazine is LIVE!

Hi everybody! 🙂

I just wanted to pop in real quick and spread the happy news that the Summer 2012 issue of the Loom Knitter’s Circle Magazine is now up and running!

There are some absolutely terrific new projects, product reviews, and articles to enjoy. I especially love the newest edition of my daugher Megan’s new Side Stitch comic strip…too funny! When you stop by, be sure and leave a comment to help encourage and provide good feedback. It’s good for her to hear what others outside her normal sphere of acquaintances think about her work, as she’s wanting to go as far as she can with her aristic talents. 🙂

My edition of Stitch Smarts this issue is all about hints and tricks to finishing your projects, from different seaming styles to weaving in those ends. I really enjoyed reading Lynn Markman’s article as well. I love meeting and hearing about our loomy friends out there around the globe!  …and don’t forget about Denise Layman’s review of all kinds of new products and books available for us yarnie lovers out there!

There are some really fun and perfect for summer projects to dive into, as well. Kudos to all those who submitted designs this time around…you’ve given us lots of super fun ideas to keep our looms whirring with activity! (especially love Saranggola Scarf by Jenny Stark, Birdy by Kelly Jones, and the Frilly Skirt by Isela Phelps!)
