Published October 29, 2007 Crafting , Family Fun , Growing Up , Kids , Kids Crafting , Life , Loom Knitting , Spooky Things 0 CommentsMy kids and I created these pumpkins at my work for displays…I had to take pictures to share with you before they were all sold (I did create an absolutely perfect skeleton pumpkin that was all spiral cut down the middle with a sculpted skull head wearing a top hat, lapel and bow tie, but he was bought before he could model for me, to display in an antique shop…don’t you think that’s perfect for a skeleton? The lady said she would send me a picture by email…I’m crossing my fingers-I loved that guy!
Here’s hoping you’ll enjoy a Very Happy Spooky Halloween!!!

Sweater Stamps!
Published October 26, 2007 Crafting , Family Fun , Knitting , Life , Loom Knitting 0 CommentsThe US Postal Service just released their new Holiday Stamps…they are designs based on
Norwegian sweater designs! How adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“The new holiday stamps provide another way for people to express warm winter greetings on all their mailings sent this season to family, friends or customers, ” said Katherine C. Tobin, a member of the post office’s governing board.
Inspired by traditional Norwegian sweaters, the stamps include a stag, a snow-dappled evergreen tree, a snowman sporting a top hat and a whimsical teddy bear.
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting mine today!
Happy Friday!

The ins & outs of Felting~
Published October 25, 2007 Crafting , Knitting , Loom Knitting 0 CommentsI don’t know about you…but I (big heart) Felting!!!! There’s just something about the sturdiness of the finished product, and the magic of getting there.
On perusing some of my favorite sites, I came across this post by Lisa Sawyer about a felted bag. She had some links from her search of learning to felt by hand. Inside these links there is a fabulous article about felting on this site. I couldn’t have said it better myself…and I LOVE the idea of the plunger and the ice cube tray! I know you’re going…what?! Click on the link…believe me, you’ll love it too! I can’t wait to try it…I do have a felted project tumbling around in planning mode that would be perfect to take these ideas for a spin.

Pretties for My Pegs~
Published October 23, 2007 Crafting , Jewelry , Knitting , Loom Knitting , New Projects , Tutorials 0 CommentsI’ve been working on a new
project and needed to have stitch markers for the design I’m knitting…I know it doesn’t look like much at the moment…it’s going to need a severe blocking to get it to show properly!

But if I was going to have to use markers, I needed to have something glitzy…so I made little loomy dangles. At first, it took some getting use to…I kept having my hook get wrapped up in them, but now it’s no problem at all, and I really love the personal touch. It says this Bethany’s loom…these are the things she likes: loom knitting and sparkly pretties! (sorry about the blurry pics…I’m working on getting a new camera that takes much better close ups.)
-
If you want stitch markers of your own…they’re very simple to create. The components are latch style earring hooks (that way you can remove them easier if you need to), eye pins (the ones with a loop on one end), charms and a few pretty beads.
-
You place the beads on the eye pins, in the order you’d like them to hang.
-
Bend the wire in a 90 degree angle over the top bead, and trim wire to approx. 3/8″.
-
Using round nose pliers, curl the wire, beginning at the very tip, toward the base of the head pin and top bead until you have a nicely formed loop, about the same size as the loop on the bottom.
-
Attach your charm on the bottom, and the earring hook at the top. Remember when opening the loops to attach other items, to always twist them open, rather than pulling, so the wire is not weakened.
Wah Lah!!!!!!!!! Your very own Pretties for your Pegs! Choose charms that tell a story about you! This makes the idea more meaningful and worth while.

Kids say the darndest things!
Published October 22, 2007 Family Fun , Growing Up , Kids , Life 0 CommentsSince it’s Monday… and we all know the rap Mondays have…I thought you’d like to read something humorous.
When my eldest daughter was only 4 years old, her and I were sitting on the couch together. I noticed she began, as children have no compunction about doing anywhere…anytime, to really dig in one of her orifices…this time it was her ear.
I asked her what she was doing. To which she replied…
“I have a whack in my ear!”
“Don’t you mean you have ear wax?”
“No…I think there’s only ONE!“ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kids are wonderful tension relievers! Enjoy your day.
(New Note Added November 3rd…upon reading this humorous dialog detailed above…my youngest daughter (now 11&3/4 yrs) laughed out loud and said, “Ha, Ha,…Children are wonderful TELEVISION RECEIVERS!! Ha, Ha!” To which we all had lots of laughs! :D This just proves the original point. You gotta luv ‘em!)

Beading in Blue & Black~
Published October 20, 2007 Crafting , Jewelry , Loom Knitting , Project Preview 0 CommentsHere are the projects for the November classes at my LCS…
I must say…they are stunning. I’d be happy to wear these anywhere!

This one is my favorite, but what a doozy to make…six strands of tiny beads! Yikes! But the results are definitely worth it, though…if you live at all near me, pop on in for a class!

Eerie Lookalikes…
Published October 19, 2007 Family Fun , Growing Up , Life , Loom Knitting , Marriage , Spooky Things 0 CommentsI was going through my family’s photos with an idea buzzing around in my head for a new post, when I came across these really spooky look-alike photos. Perfect for the Halloween season!
The first I will show you is of my husband. The top picture was taken in 1988, by myself, while we were dating. He’s posing proudly in front of his first car…yes, it is a Pinto
…in front of my parent’s house. Notice how he’s standing with his left leg in front of his right, his hands in his pockets, even the expression on his face and where on the car he is leaning.
The bottom picture was taken in 2003, by my father, in front of another new car, also taken in front of my parents house. Notice how exactly alike the two pictures are! Even the gap of 15 years doesn’t make any difference to the essence of the photos. CREEPY!!
The next 2 pictures are of myself and my oldest daughter Emily. The first one is me, in 1986, 10th grade. The second one is Emily, in 1999, her 2nd grade picture. How weird is that?! (insert Twilight Zone theme song…)

Do you have any eerie photos like these…dopplegangers that appear 13-15 years later, or more? Tell me about it in the comments…I’m ready for a good creep out! After all, it’s almost Halloween.

Our day at the Cider Mill~
Published October 14, 2007 Family Fun , Kids , Life , Loom Knitting , Marriage , Pets 0 CommentsWe all went to Lattin’s Cider Mill yesterday…an absolute MUST visit every fall! They are nationally known for their excellent cider and people travel from miles around to taste their fabulous apple fritters…we had to wait in line 45 minutes to get ours, and believe me…it was worth every minute! They said that they premade 1800 dough forms for this weekend and they were already having to make an emergency batch to meet the demand.
Here’s a little slide show of our adventures…
