Girl’s Day~ Yay…I finally have visuals!!!

On Saturday (5/3), my daughters and I got to have a girl’s day out with my family. My 2nd eldest sister’s son is getting married in July, and his bride’s wedding shower was in Lacey, WA. Since we would all have to travel 30 miles to get there, we decided to make a day of it!

Girl\'s Day Out!First we met at the Centralia Factory Outlet Center, where some of us (I won’t mention who! Hehehe) had to do some very last minute shopping for the bride…then off we went to the Olympia Olive Garden for a scrumptious Italian lunch! Mmmmmm- mmmmm! :P

Those around the table: my 2 eldest sisters, one daughter each, my mom, and my own 2 daughters. It was so fun! I think it was good to get out and go have some fun with just us girls…we don’t do that enough. And we were still missing my youngest sister and her daughter, a sister of one of the daughters who attended, and my brother’s wife, and her 2 daughters. Now you see why it’s so difficult for us all to get together…we have a tribe! We were having such a good time, that my sister had to call the bride, and tell her we’d be a tad late for her shower! Time just got away from us.

When we finally made it…about a half hour late!…we had a really enjoyable afternoon getting to know the bride’s family, and all the bridesmaids, and playing those kooky games you can only find at showers. One of the games involved breaking up into 4 different groups, and separating into different places in the house. We then had to use only toilet paper to design complete wedding attire for someone in our group! The bride then got to choose which one she liked best.

Emily\'s lovely outfit~

Megan...the blushing bride~My daughter Emily was the model in our group, and my Megan got to be the bride in another group…I think everyone was thinking “the smaller the model, the less wrapping in TP!”

Check out all those TP roses!

I got to design rosebuds for Emily’s bouquet and headpiece, while the other ladies wrapped away.

Here is the finished TP bridal attire…

Here come the brides....

…and the winner is…

Emily! :D

The bride said that even though she would probably wear dresses like the other three, she liked ours best for all the lovely detail. It’s amazing what you can do with a couple rolls of toilet paper! We tried to fit in a visit to Shipwrecked Beads… but we got there one minute after their closing time. Rats! Oh, well…that will be a reason to get everyone together for another Girl’s Day outing.

On a fibery note: yesterday, I got to KNIT! <BIG SMILE!> I only have 1 more wedge to go on my pinwheel blanket! I’ll post pics as soon as I have it off the loom, and stitched together…then it’s onto the 2 afghan squares I’m terribly behind on…and then I’ll get to the edging for the blanket. I have to shuffle between projects, so everyone’s happy, and I actually get them all done, lol!

Have a wonderful day!

Still no pics…

I’m having a terrible time trying to get help with my picture uploading problem… I’ve tried everything I know to do, and still no solution.  Support seems to be out to lunch!

I’ll be posting that promised “Girl’s Day Out” as soon as I can attach pictures to it, as these are so fun, I can’t even think of posting without them!  :)

By the way…my hubby brought me home a surprise early Mother’s Day gifty!  A gift card to Bath and Body Works, and a super sweet little bathtub shaped tin filled with ducky shaped mints!  (I really love taking baths!) What an absolute sweetie he is.  <3

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I hope you all had a great 5th of May!  My family and I went to Casa Ramos (a part of the Azteca chain, which, eons ago I worked as a hostess, then waitress for 2 years!).  We girls shared chicken fajitas, while my husband enjoyed 2 enchiladas with verde sauce.  Yumm!  :)

I have another post all ready for you about my weekend adventures, but for some reason the system is not letting me import pics…and I have some great ones to show you!  I’ll be contacting support to find out what’s what, then I’ll post about my Girl’s Day Out.  Talk to ya all soon!  :D

Flash Back Friday!

I’ve recently gotten to know a little bit more about a wonderful loomy friend of mine…Robin McCoy!  She’s such a kick in the pants, and so willing and ready to help those in need; whether it’s for charity, or for all those questions that many people have on looming techniques.  She’s so ready to drop everything and lend a hand.  I’ve grown rather fond of our Robin.  :D

So…in honor of this special day, I give you happy wishes, and a shared flash back:

Yes, it is Robin’s birthday today!  She reminds me so much of myself, as I have always been crazy about all holidays in general, and especially birthdays… sometimes I drive my family nutty with my giddy excitment, lol.  Robin has been talking about her birthday for the past month on the Loom Knitter’s Chat Clique, so I wanted to do something a little quirky for her.

In one of our chatty emails to each other, we discovered that we share a bit of the same past…we were both on the High School Band Flag Team…or Color Guard, as she likes to call it.  :)  I absolutely loved being on the team, and not only for the cool routines we got to make up, but for the fact that I got out of wearing, what I thought at the time, to be really dorky uniforms that the band had to wear!  I would be playing the flute, wearing those terrible polyester pants, and feathered hat, if I wasn’t twirling a flag.  Hehehe, yes…as a high schooler, all is vanity!  And another similarity, is that Robin also played the flute!…and sax, which I always wanted to, but could never afford. <insert pouty face>  So, I played the piano instead, which we already had in the house, lol.

Flash Back #1

Okay…see the band behind us?

See what I mean about those uniforms?  ;)

And check out those cute little lacy anklets I’m sporting, lol!

Flash Back #2

Okay, as the hat says…this is the 80’s…so of course I’m sporting those huge sunglasses that take up my entire face, and make me look like some kind of weird bug!  I look like I’m straight out of the movie “Better Off Dead”!

This was one of the highlights of being in the high school band…we got to travel to British Columbia, Canada and perform at the World Expo of…you got it!  1986!

Oh the days…sigh.   Robin, I hope you have a totally awesome tubular birthday, and that all things rad come your way throughout the year!

The last day of April…

Yippee!  It’s over!!!!

I know…April is a very nice month in it’s own right, and I normally think so, too.  After all, this is when my first daughter came into the world 16 years ago.  But this year’s April was a killer!  WAAAAY too much stress and struggle!  Whew that it’s the last day.  :P

We are all done in the other house.  We spent all day Sunday and Monday doing the last packing & loading & scrubbing.  Let me tell you, I think I almost asfixiated myself with cleaning fumes!  I was using bleach and Windex in the bathroom, and then in the kitchen, and added oven cleaner on top of it.  I didn’t even know I wasn’t feeling well until we broke for a late lunch and I felt dizzy, and my “lung pipes” were a bit raw.  I kept laughing hysterically at everything everyone said, even if it was “please pass the napkins”, lol!  My advice to anyone doing major cleaning…follow the instructions on the warning labels of the cleaning cans…they mean what they say!  ;)

Things I’m looking forward to in May…

  • getting settled in our new home
  • going to my nephew’s wedding shower  (he’s the first of 10 nephews/nieces to be married)
  • my hubby’s birthday
  • Mother’s Day is always a shining light on the horizon!
  • planting flowers in our new backyard
  • Narnia movie #2 comes out!  (I think there are other’s I’d like to see opening this month, too, but I can’t remember…all the stress has knocked them clean outta my noggin’)
  • getting a new loom along going in the Loom Knitter’s Chat Clique!  Most likely the Arm Chair Caddy!

By the way…the Peggin’ Pages Moving Sale is still going on all day today!  Hurry…sale ends tomorrow…as tomorrow brings a new day, month, and new happiness right along with it!

Moving Update!

Hey, All!  :D  Just wanted to give you an update on our moving status…if you were interested, lol!  We’ve been in our new place since Sunday night, and it already feels comfortable.  We had the great plan of not bringing in our boxes until we were ready for them…we only brought in the furniture, and beds/dressers, etc…and a tub of essential “get-ready” items…and of course our cat, Gus. Gus all packed and ready to go!(We had much appreciated help from my sister, nephew, brother-in-law, and his 2 sons!)  We left all the boxes in the garage, in their ordered places by room (this idea was given to me by a friend at my work, and it is going swimmingly!).  We just grab a box when we’re ready for it, and unpack a little at a time.  That way we’re not shuffling through tons of boxes, like our several moves in the past.  ;)

We still are working on bringing over some last items…everyday after picking up my daughter from school, we go over and pick up a load in my little PT, and take it over to the new house.  This Sunday, we will be going over to completely empty out the metal shed in the back yard.  This we have saved till last, as we want to thoroughly inspect every nook and cranny for spiders.  We don’t want to take any of those nasties with us to the new place!

I really had a hard time without an internet connection.  I missed all my loomy friends online!  With all my frantic packing, moving, cleaning, more packing & moving….I didn’t have a lot of extra time to be very chatty…and then to be without a hook up even if I wanted to chat…that was difficult, to say the least!  We ended up having to have a technician come out to fix the wires at the box to the house.  In the meantime, I had the phone company forwarding all incoming calls to my cell…but it turned out, they had input the forwarding number incorrectly by one digit, and I was receiving all of someone else’s phone calls on my cell!  I’ll tell you, that person wasn’t very happy with the whole situation…as was I, to tell you the truth!  :P  But it all worked out, and now I have my computer all set up, with the wires neatly wrapped, and unsnarled, and the monitor all dusted, and shiny…I’m a happy blogger!  :)

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

In the words of Charlie Brown…

AAARRRRGHHHHH!!!

AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hello, All!  :D

Just thought I’d pop in and say “Hi!”  I’m typing on a strange computer in a hotel lobby right now, waiting for my daugter to finish with her WASL testing…a Mandatory Washington state achievement test.  We’ve travelled to Olympia, WA to do this, and will be doing the same for the rest of the week.  This is about a half hour drive one way, so it takes up the entire first half of the day…then the rest of the day will be off to work for me, then back home…packing!

Yesterday was the same morning schedule, except it was my daughter’s 16th birthday…I wanted to be able to have a memorable party for her in the midst of all the chaos of our house situation right now, so we decided to have a family party at our new house.  We only got the keys yesterday, so the house was empty!  So to remedy this, we rented a U-haul (just my daughter and I) and after our trip and Olympia all morning, and after party goods/food shopping, we packed up our couches, kitchen table and chairs, coffee table, and all available boxes we could shove in that truck to make the trip worthwhile, and drove to the new house to unload and set up for the party…all before 6 o’clock!  YIKES!  :P  By this time, my younger daughter was home from school, and gave us some much needed help.

Well, I can tell you, WE MADE IT!   :)  Everything went off without a hitch, and people enjoyed looking around our new (mostly empty) digs, and Emily said it was the most fun she had had in a long while.  :)  I’ll post pics later, as I don’t think my camera would appreciate being plugged into a strange computer, lol!  ;)  Have a wonderful day!

Bethany~

PS…I did manage to get another wedge and a half done on my Pinwheel Blanket yesterday while waiting for Emily’s testing to be done.  :)   The loom along is still going on, if anyone wants to take part.

Lots and Lots of Loom Alongs!

Well…I think I’m a VERY big glutton for punishment…as well as most of the other online loomers out there, lol!  We just can’t get over the fun we have getting together and loom knitting something as a group.  It’s so enjoyable meeting new friends who have the same loom love as you and talking about great projects, yarn, and daily happenings.

Here’s a little run down of what’s going on out there, so you too can join in on the fun!…if you haven’t already.  ;)

At the Loom knitter’s Clique…we’re having a little impromptu Loom Along using Denise Layman’s Pinwheel Blanket Pattern!  All you need to join is to click on the button, join, enroll on the database, purchase your pattern here, gather your yarn…and get set to knit Sunday (yes, this is tomorrow…did I say impromptu?)

Here are my yarn choices for the blanket…

I love blues and browns together.

And over at the Loom Class Group…Jenny and Robin are teaching blocks #2 and 3 beginning tomorrow and lasting until April 26!

I’ve completed my block #1 and these are the colors I’ve decided on for my afghan…I just LOVE them, don’t you?

Well, since I’m moving, begin instructing a new group of college classes, and celebrating my daughter’s 16th birthday…I figured this is all I could possibly get away with signing my name to…

but there is still one more loom along that I know about, that you might enjoy joining, and it’s going on right now!

GettinItPeggedOver at Ravelry, in the Loom Along group, Isela is teaching her adorable bag pattern…the Felted Baguette!  If you haven’t enrolled in Ravelry yet,  GO NOW AND DO SO!!!  I can’t stress enough how fabulous this online fiber community is!  There’s a little waiting list, but they push you through pretty quickly, so you’ll be rollin’ with the yarnies in no time, lol!

Well, I hope you can join us for one or the other…or several…projects…it’ll be a blast!  :D
