Finished Object Friday~

My Braided Cables Bag!This is my Braided Cables Bag. I just love this purse! It has everything a girl could want in a carryall…because is does carry all! It’s really very roomy. It also has a sturdy bottom base, and nice thick strap, which are supported by dowels inserted into the top edges. And no stretching out of shape because of the pretty, yet functional liner.

The back...and braided strap~I’ve been using this for some time now as my purse/lunch bag… and it’s great for…shhhhh!…sneaking candy into the theater! ;)

And a girl can’t have too many little swirly rosettes!

and fully lined, too!I’ve been waiting to post this until I was a little closer to be able to post a pattern. I was a tad hesitant because I felt (and still feel) that it is quite a project to undertake, and would be difficult to explain in a simple write up. I’ve decided to make another bag, along the same lines, only with simpler construction, so that anyone wanting this look, but not the cumbersome instructions, could whip one up in a jiffy. I’m just about ready, so I thought I’d give you a preview to keep your loomy wheels turning. :)

Have a Fantabulous Friday! We’re off to enjoy Narnia!!!! I’m taking my 2 girlies, and one of their close friends…and of course my best guy, up to Olympia to enjoy the show. I can’ t wait!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hello, All!  :D

Just thought I’d pop in and say “Hi!”  I’m typing on a strange computer in a hotel lobby right now, waiting for my daugter to finish with her WASL testing…a Mandatory Washington state achievement test.  We’ve travelled to Olympia, WA to do this, and will be doing the same for the rest of the week.  This is about a half hour drive one way, so it takes up the entire first half of the day…then the rest of the day will be off to work for me, then back home…packing!

Yesterday was the same morning schedule, except it was my daughter’s 16th birthday…I wanted to be able to have a memorable party for her in the midst of all the chaos of our house situation right now, so we decided to have a family party at our new house.  We only got the keys yesterday, so the house was empty!  So to remedy this, we rented a U-haul (just my daughter and I) and after our trip and Olympia all morning, and after party goods/food shopping, we packed up our couches, kitchen table and chairs, coffee table, and all available boxes we could shove in that truck to make the trip worthwhile, and drove to the new house to unload and set up for the party…all before 6 o’clock!  YIKES!  :P  By this time, my younger daughter was home from school, and gave us some much needed help.

Well, I can tell you, WE MADE IT!   :)  Everything went off without a hitch, and people enjoyed looking around our new (mostly empty) digs, and Emily said it was the most fun she had had in a long while.  :)  I’ll post pics later, as I don’t think my camera would appreciate being plugged into a strange computer, lol!  ;)  Have a wonderful day!

PS…I did manage to get another wedge and a half done on my Pinwheel Blanket yesterday while waiting for Emily’s testing to be done.  :)   The loom along is still going on, if anyone wants to take part.

Thursday’s think about it…

Rabbit seen from the sky (one person sleeping on its belly)copyright gelitinIf you had 5 years, and a giant stash of pink yarn the size of a house…what would you do with it?

Well, a GIANT pink rabbit on an Italian hillside that is, as you can see, definitely bigger than a house, probably wouldn’t be my first idea…but this is exactly what these people did!  Click on the pic to discover what motivated this interesting creation.

We loom knitters would need an awfully big loom to create this baby…then just consider the waiting time on that order!  Yikes!  ;)

A talent for tiny crochet~

emily-creating.jpgMy eldest daughter has an ability that I don’t have…or choose not to employ, lol!  She uses eensy weensy crochet hooks, embroidery thread, and her own imagination…and creates magic.  She can just think of something and create it right out of heran artist at work… head.  Like modelling with clay, but with thread.   :)

For my younger daugher’s birthday this year, she decided (promised) to make a little doll, along the same lines of a doll that she had already created for herself a few years back.  A little monkey out of braided hemp, with magnetic hands and feet, and little crocheted 18th century clothes.  He’s quite a little gentleman, and has even appeared in his own major motion picture!  (a science project for school that Emily created…a stop motion animation starring her very own…Cedric!)

For her sister, she decided to create a cat…almost an Anime creation.  This is what she came up with…

Emily’s Kitty…don’t you just love that tail?!)…with the monkey who started it all…Cedric!

Click on the pics to see a tad bigger…these little guys are awesome!  And that’s not just because I’m a proud mama…   :)   Even Noreen Crone Findlay would approve, I’m sure!

Bethany~

PS: Sometime soon I’m going to see if I can show you Cedric’s movie…it’s very well done, and quite entertaining!

Bethany’s Baby Booties~Expanded 3/20

)

adorable…even on the bottom!

Aren’t they SOOO cute?!!

I’ve already gotten 3 requests to knit these babies up in assorted colors for people at my work…I even got to try them on a real live baby, and they fit just perfect!  (she was about 2.5 months)

But the real reason I’m knitting up little baby booties is to begin our Loom Knitter’s Clique “Online Classes Club”!  These will be held at the Gettin’ It Pegged Chat Clique, that you can join here.  This first class (series, I’m thinking) will be free!…and most thereafter, for that matter.  ;)

Hmmm…what could it be? …the only thing you need that maybe not everyone has at the moment, is a loom capable of knitting in a fine gauge.

The one I used on the booties above is from Decor Accents and can be found here.  But any fine gauge loom will do.

I would like to get a feeling for how many people would be interested in joining this project class in April…could you please leave a comment on this post to let me know?  Thanks so much!  This should be a fun looming endeavor!  :)

Bethany~

PS: EDIT!!  To join the class, just click on the link above to join the Gettin’ It Pegged…loom knitter’s chat clique, which was started just for the purpose of holding classes…and occasionally contests, etc! ;)

Also, I’ve gotten a lot of requests about whether or not it’s okay to use an Extra Fine Gauge loom for these little cuties…the answer is…Of Course! :)  You just need to do a little swatch and adjust the pattern as necessary…these knitted up at 11 stitches for every 2 inches using #4 Cotton Ease by Lion Brand yarn.

Also, this project is knit in a flat panel, so the loom just needs to have at least 40 pegs…more as needed for EFG looms  ;)

And Everyone…Thanks a Bunch for your wonderful comments, and willingness to loom along with me…Stay tuned for more details as I work out all the kinks in the process…and don’t forget to comment here so I can keep a good count…Thanks!!!

Happy St Patty’s Day!

feelin’ lucky yet?I hope you’re all wearing green!

I love this holiday!  When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to get to school to see who I could pinch that wasn’t wearing green. The bad part was when I actually forgot what day it was when I was dressing that morning, and had to get pinched myself…I usually employed the help of a magic marker, or a few blades of grass crammed into my pocket to avoid the inevitable pinching fingers coming my way.  Hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!  ;)   Hope you all have a wonderful day!

PS: I do have a little tiny surprise awaiting for you this week…keep checking back to find out what…you’ll like it, I promise!

Just a lil’ Hello~

Hey, all!  :)

I don’t have a ton of stuff to post today… I just wanted to pop in to say “Hi!”

Silly Girl! :)I thought I’d show you a really cute picture of Emily that my dad took at Megan’s 12th birthday party.  He’s so good at placing the subject at just the right spot in the frame.  :)  If you’d like to see it bigger… just click on the pic!

Tomorrow (I think) I will be able to share a project with you that I’ve been messing with…I think it’s going to be pretty cute… cross your fingers!  I’ve been dealing with an extremely sore neck/shoulders/back this last weekend, and it’s still lingering, so if I don’t get back to show you tomorrow, at least you know it’ll be soon!  Right now, I should fly… to the medicine cabinet to grab some more pain killers. ;)  Happy Monday to you all!

Wednesday’s What-not~

Just check out the PILE of…

Oh, all the endless possibilities!what is it?…dirty laundry?…contents of my linen closet?…

NO!  :)  This is the absolute HAUL the girls and I made at the yearly fabric sale at Walmart!  You’re looking at over 55 yards of fabric…all for only a dollar a piece!  Yippee!!!

Okay…we went kinda nuts going around touching, and ooooohing over every design and texture.  But, we do have a sort of plan for most of the fabrics we purchased, so it wasn’t just frivolous…I’m telling myself…  ;)

The first item has already been sewn up complete…a black skirt that Megan needed for her Spring Strings Concert last night.

What girl doesn’t need a little black skirt?I whipped up this simple little thing without a pattern.  I just made sure to measure her really acurately, so it would fit correctly (hopefully) when done.  It has two slits up the sides, which Megan thinks are the bees knees…and the skirt fits to a tee!  :)

I’m at the moment trying to download a little video for you to have a peek at the concert…it’s very cute to see the young budding musical talent…kids are just cute, period, so this is just extra fun to watch.  :)

I’m having a little difficulty getting the link to show up here on my site, but you can go here to see the video on youtube.  And here’s the finale.   Enjoy!

Bethany~
