I’m beginning to hear Wedding Bells!

…even in my sleep!  ;)

I’ve been helping my sister with her son’s wedding, to be held next weekend, on July 5th.  As you can imagine, emotions are high, timing is tense, and all brains are wracked to try and remember to plan every detail, so that all goes smoothly, and the event turns out as sweet and memorable as everyone hopes.

Not only this, but at Michaels, we have been gearing up for our wedding event, which was held yesterday, the 28th.  So I’ve been having wedding thoughts coming from every direction!  This went well, and everyone seemed pleased.  Here are a few pics I’d like to share with you…

the lovely arbour...

Everything’s coming up pink roses!  :)

The funny thing is, this is the exact color for my nephew’s wedding, and so my sister has purchased this arch that I made, for them to use on their special day…

I was going to decorate their arch at the ball room where the reception is to be held, but now I’ll have the pleasure of having already done it, LOL!  It would only end up being just a fraction of the cost more, and this saves much time and sore fingers.

Pretty, huh?

This is the bridal bouquet I whipped up to go with the arch.

I just love the mix of natural with the fancy pearls and ribbon.  There are little sprigs of tiny pussy willows, and green moss peeking out between the roses, and hydrangeas.  The base is wrapped and tied in a brown satin ribbon.  If I could choose to go back in time and have my wedding all over again, I’d choose this bouquet in a second!

My friend and our wonderful Wilton Cake Instructor created this sweet something for the event…

doesn’t it look so cute and scrumptious?!

She did an excellent job with all those little flowers, and she said her hubby helped her arrange them all spilling down like that.

I think it reminds me of a summer bonnet!  :)

And last but not at all…even close…to least, is a picture of something special that arrived for me in the mail last week.  One of our lovely online looming ladies sent this package as a thank you for helping her learn to create Bethany’s Booties, and with other little odds and ends as we’ve become online friends…

Thank you so much, Linda!

It’s been a pleasure to get to know you, and to loom with you!

:D

I know we’ll have lots of fun in the future with our

Christmas Countdown at the Clique!

Happy looming, and I hope everyone has a wonderful, and SAFE holiday week ahead.

My Pinwheel Blanket Progress~

I thought it was about time to show you how I’m doing on Denise’s Pinwheel Blanket. We’re doing an impromptu, free-form loom along with this pattern on the Loom Knitter’s Chat Clique…feel free to join! All you need is the pattern, and to belong to the clique. :)

This shows how the blanket looks on each side…I like how it looks great no matter which side is up. Perfect for a easy lap throw! I’m intending on adding a 6 inch sawtooth border around the perimeter, so that the entire width will end up being 45 inches. Right now it measures 33 inches.

Here’s some lovely little items I found while exploring my new back yard this morning. What sweet treasures! I need to do some weeding, and we’re going to plant a small veggie garden, but these little beauties were a very nice find in all their uncultivated glory. :) Enjoy!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I hope you all had a great 5th of May!  My family and I went to Casa Ramos (a part of the Azteca chain, which, eons ago I worked as a hostess, then waitress for 2 years!).  We girls shared chicken fajitas, while my husband enjoyed 2 enchiladas with verde sauce.  Yumm!  :)

I have another post all ready for you about my weekend adventures, but for some reason the system is not letting me import pics…and I have some great ones to show you!  I’ll be contacting support to find out what’s what, then I’ll post about my Girl’s Day Out.  Talk to ya all soon!  :D

Flash Back Friday!

I’ve recently gotten to know a little bit more about a wonderful loomy friend of mine…Robin McCoy!  She’s such a kick in the pants, and so willing and ready to help those in need; whether it’s for charity, or for all those questions that many people have on looming techniques.  She’s so ready to drop everything and lend a hand.  I’ve grown rather fond of our Robin.  :D

So…in honor of this special day, I give you happy wishes, and a shared flash back:

Yes, it is Robin’s birthday today!  She reminds me so much of myself, as I have always been crazy about all holidays in general, and especially birthdays… sometimes I drive my family nutty with my giddy excitment, lol.  Robin has been talking about her birthday for the past month on the Loom Knitter’s Chat Clique, so I wanted to do something a little quirky for her.

In one of our chatty emails to each other, we discovered that we share a bit of the same past…we were both on the High School Band Flag Team…or Color Guard, as she likes to call it.  :)  I absolutely loved being on the team, and not only for the cool routines we got to make up, but for the fact that I got out of wearing, what I thought at the time, to be really dorky uniforms that the band had to wear!  I would be playing the flute, wearing those terrible polyester pants, and feathered hat, if I wasn’t twirling a flag.  Hehehe, yes…as a high schooler, all is vanity!  And another similarity, is that Robin also played the flute!…and sax, which I always wanted to, but could never afford. <insert pouty face>  So, I played the piano instead, which we already had in the house, lol.

Flash Back #1

Okay…see the band behind us?

See what I mean about those uniforms?  ;)

And check out those cute little lacy anklets I’m sporting, lol!

Flash Back #2

Okay, as the hat says…this is the 80’s…so of course I’m sporting those huge sunglasses that take up my entire face, and make me look like some kind of weird bug!  I look like I’m straight out of the movie “Better Off Dead”!

This was one of the highlights of being in the high school band…we got to travel to British Columbia, Canada and perform at the World Expo of…you got it!  1986!

Oh the days…sigh.   Robin, I hope you have a totally awesome tubular birthday, and that all things rad come your way throughout the year!

Thursday’s think about it…

Rabbit seen from the sky (one person sleeping on its belly)copyright gelitinIf you had 5 years, and a giant stash of pink yarn the size of a house…what would you do with it?

Well, a GIANT pink rabbit on an Italian hillside that is, as you can see, definitely bigger than a house, probably wouldn’t be my first idea…but this is exactly what these people did!  Click on the pic to discover what motivated this interesting creation.

We loom knitters would need an awfully big loom to create this baby…then just consider the waiting time on that order!  Yikes!  ;)

Spring is Here…I think!

…can’t you almost smell them through the computer screen?

I finally was able to take some decent shots of spring and picked the best of the batch to show you…aren’t they so pretty!  The day I took this photo, you could stand outside and just breath in their rich scent on the wind.

The funny thing is that the day after I took this, it actually snowed!  We live in a valley that more likely than not, rains…until it floods…and snow is not very forthcoming.  But now the weather is deciding to really mess with our spring glory by sending down little snow flurries all week!  Oh, well…I like snow, too, lol.

Happy Weekend!  :)

Bethany~
