Girl’s Day~ Yay…I finally have visuals!!!

On Saturday (5/3), my daughters and I got to have a girl’s day out with my family. My 2nd eldest sister’s son is getting married in July, and his bride’s wedding shower was in Lacey, WA. Since we would all have to travel 30 miles to get there, we decided to make a day of it!

Girl\'s Day Out!First we met at the Centralia Factory Outlet Center, where some of us (I won’t mention who! Hehehe) had to do some very last minute shopping for the bride…then off we went to the Olympia Olive Garden for a scrumptious Italian lunch! Mmmmmm- mmmmm! :P

Those around the table: my 2 eldest sisters, one daughter each, my mom, and my own 2 daughters. It was so fun! I think it was good to get out and go have some fun with just us girls…we don’t do that enough. And we were still missing my youngest sister and her daughter, a sister of one of the daughters who attended, and my brother’s wife, and her 2 daughters. Now you see why it’s so difficult for us all to get together…we have a tribe! We were having such a good time, that my sister had to call the bride, and tell her we’d be a tad late for her shower! Time just got away from us.

When we finally made it…about a half hour late!…we had a really enjoyable afternoon getting to know the bride’s family, and all the bridesmaids, and playing those kooky games you can only find at showers. One of the games involved breaking up into 4 different groups, and separating into different places in the house. We then had to use only toilet paper to design complete wedding attire for someone in our group! The bride then got to choose which one she liked best.

Emily\'s lovely outfit~

Megan...the blushing bride~My daughter Emily was the model in our group, and my Megan got to be the bride in another group…I think everyone was thinking “the smaller the model, the less wrapping in TP!”

Check out all those TP roses!

I got to design rosebuds for Emily’s bouquet and headpiece, while the other ladies wrapped away.

Here is the finished TP bridal attire…

Here come the brides....

…and the winner is…

Emily! :D

The bride said that even though she would probably wear dresses like the other three, she liked ours best for all the lovely detail. It’s amazing what you can do with a couple rolls of toilet paper! We tried to fit in a visit to Shipwrecked Beads… but we got there one minute after their closing time. Rats! Oh, well…that will be a reason to get everyone together for another Girl’s Day outing.

On a fibery note: yesterday, I got to KNIT! <BIG SMILE!> I only have 1 more wedge to go on my pinwheel blanket! I’ll post pics as soon as I have it off the loom, and stitched together…then it’s onto the 2 afghan squares I’m terribly behind on…and then I’ll get to the edging for the blanket. I have to shuffle between projects, so everyone’s happy, and I actually get them all done, lol!

Have a wonderful day!

Still no pics…

I’m having a terrible time trying to get help with my picture uploading problem… I’ve tried everything I know to do, and still no solution.  Support seems to be out to lunch!

I’ll be posting that promised “Girl’s Day Out” as soon as I can attach pictures to it, as these are so fun, I can’t even think of posting without them!  :)

By the way…my hubby brought me home a surprise early Mother’s Day gifty!  A gift card to Bath and Body Works, and a super sweet little bathtub shaped tin filled with ducky shaped mints!  (I really love taking baths!) What an absolute sweetie he is.  <3

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I hope you all had a great 5th of May!  My family and I went to Casa Ramos (a part of the Azteca chain, which, eons ago I worked as a hostess, then waitress for 2 years!).  We girls shared chicken fajitas, while my husband enjoyed 2 enchiladas with verde sauce.  Yumm!  :)

I have another post all ready for you about my weekend adventures, but for some reason the system is not letting me import pics…and I have some great ones to show you!  I’ll be contacting support to find out what’s what, then I’ll post about my Girl’s Day Out.  Talk to ya all soon!  :D

Have a Very Happy Easter!

How cute is that?!

…make sure you find a bunny to squeeze today!   :)

Happy St Patty’s Day!

feelin’ lucky yet?I hope you’re all wearing green!

I love this holiday!  When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to get to school to see who I could pinch that wasn’t wearing green. The bad part was when I actually forgot what day it was when I was dressing that morning, and had to get pinched myself…I usually employed the help of a magic marker, or a few blades of grass crammed into my pocket to avoid the inevitable pinching fingers coming my way.  Hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!  ;)   Hope you all have a wonderful day!

PS: I do have a little tiny surprise awaiting for you this week…keep checking back to find out what…you’ll like it, I promise!

Buckets, Bracelets, Mittens & more…

I hope you all have had a Fantabulous Christmas Holiday!!!

Ours was splenderific!  For some reason this year, it finally sank into my deepest being that I didn’t have to be totally stressed out…our new Christmas tradition must be doing the trick.  Yippee!!   :)

Here’s a little peek into what things we did, and gave over the holiday…

Christmas Bounty~

These were goodie buckets we made up to give to all of my extended family.  Keep your eye out right after St Patrick’s Day to get these buckets, usually priced at around $2 each, for 90% off!! Now that’s a great deal!  My girls and I made dipped pretzel rods wrapped in cellophane and ribbon to add to the regular chocolate, peppermints, and pistachios.  This picture was taken before I tucked a tangerine into each bucket just for good measure.

Bracelets for my mom & sisters~

I created these beautiful sparklies to add to each of my sisters’ & mom’s gift buckets.  They were a big hit!     :)

Emily Mitts~

I finally mastered cables on the loom!!!  This I’m very excited about, as I have tried and tried over the years I’ve been loom knitting and just couldn’t get the hang of knitting these babies without stretching those stitches too much.  Isela made knitting these beauties a snap!  The project above is made from the Jamie Mitts pattern in her new book, Learn to Knit Cables on Looms.  But the ones shown are now dubbed Emily’s Mitts!  She wears them most of the day, so she must think they’re the “bees knees”.

New Mittens for Me!

Of course, I couldn’t forget a little something for me!  These are wonderful mittens that I knit up based on Isela’s Itty Bitty Mitts pattern…just enlarged.  I love the way the thumb is done in one piece with the hand…no piecing after the fact!  Great idea!  :)

out with the old…

…and by the looks of my old mittens, it was high time for a new pair!   ;)

Happy Boxing Day!

Bethany~
